USS Constitution sails into an auction sunset

A model of the United States Navy wooden-hulled three-masted heavy frigate USS Constitution will be auctioned as part of Young’s Auctions latest weekly sale from 9.30am Friday July 10 at 229 Camberwell Road, East Hawthorn.

Launched in 1798, Constitution is the world’s oldest commissioned naval vessel still afloat and is currently undergoing important restoration work at Charleston Navy Yard.

A large collection of historic Australian and British coins – along with those from other nations – should prove a collector’s paradise at auctioneer Steve Graham’s forthcoming sale from 10am on Sunday July 5 at 64 Urquhart Street, Woodend.

Of particular note is the 1861, 1907, 1911 and 1915 gold Australian sovereigns, and the 1909 and 1913 gold Australian half sovereigns.

Another coin of interest to collectors is the 1892 British gold half sovereign.
