The masthead figure of Don Francisco de Assis Maria Fernando de Bourbon – in English more commonly known as Francis of Assisi after the saint of the same name (lot 10) – from a 19th century sailing ship will be among the items to greet auction goers as Leski Auctions cautiously transcends back to live auctions following the easing of restrictions after the coronavirus pandemic lockdown in Australia.

Jewellery is among the top attractions at Gibson’s Autumn Auction Series from 10.30am Monday May 25 at 885-889 high Street, Armadale.
However, given current concerns over the spread of the coronavirus throughout Australia, viewing will for this auction will be by appointment only.
One of the major features in this category is a yellow and white diamond dress ring (lot 519) with a catalogue estimate of $20,000-$25,000.

Christian McCann Auctions
McCann Auctions is continuing its foray into online auctions during Australia’s coronavirus restrictions with another Melbourne sale scheduled for noon Sunday May 17 at 7 Harper Street, Abbotsford.
Once again, bidding will be online via the invaluable.com website with both viewing and collections only by appointment.
This sale is entitled Exceptional Timepieces, Art and Fine Antiques and features a range of excellent clocks, furniture, artwork, porcelain and sculptures bound to interest genuine collectors and buyers.

With Australia still operating under heavy restrictions following the hundreds of thousands of deaths and economic destruction worldwide caused by the coronavirus pandemic, Leski Auctions is the first of the Melbourne-based auction houses to hold a full-blown sporting memorabilia sale involving 716 lots – its biggest for many years.
The auction, from 12pm Sunday May 10 (Mothers’ Day) at 727-729 High Street Armadale, covers valued and historic football, cricket, billiards, boxing, golf, horse racing, tennis, motor sports and Olympic Games items.

Like several other Australian auction houses, Melbourne-based Leski Auctions has moved several of its sales to timed online auctions to help overcome government initiated lockdown restrictions implemented because of the current coronavirus pandemic.
At present, two are in this category – one a Stamps & Postal History sale that opened at 10am on. Wednesday April 22 and is due to finish from 10am on Monday May 4 – and the other a toy auction that will finish from 12pm on the same day.

Gibsons Auctions
Gibson’s Auctions is continuing its dalliance with timed online auctions in Melbourne with a stockroom sale which will start closing from 10.30am Thursday April 30 at 885-889 High Street, Armadale.
Viewing is only online and where multiple bids occur within five minutes of the time any particular lot is due to close, its closing time will be extended by a further five minutes.
The stockroom auction contains a wide variety of items including furniture, art, clothing, bags, shoes, and various collectables.

Melbourne-based Christian McCann Auctions is hoping to attract plenty of attention to its second online auction for the year with a magnificent collection of quality French and English antique furniture, beautiful clocks and collectable Australian and European art among the 230 lots.
The auction, from 6pm Tuesday April 28, will be held at 7 Harper Street, Abbotsford and, with coronavirus pandemic restrictions still in place, viewing is only online, with collection of goods after the sale by appointment.

Gibsons Auctions
Gibson’s Auctions love affair with English-born climber, explorer and photographer Alfred Gregory (1913-2010) continues with a timed online auction that ends in incremental stages from 10.30am Thursday April 23.
This latest effort, with 127 photographic lots on offer, follows an earlier Gregory sale by the Melbourne-based auction house, located at 885-889 High Street, Armadale, in August last year.

Gibson’s Auctions is another of Melbourne’s auction houses working its way around the coronavirus pandemic restrictions by holding its forthcoming Chinese & Asian Ceramics and Works of Art sale entirely online.
The auction is scheduled from 10.30am Wednesday April 8 and is a timed online sale with only virtual viewing.
All bids must be placed via Gibson’s Auctions website www.gibsonsauctions.com.au and will be executed immediately against the lot’s reserve or the current highest bid.

Christian McCann Auctions had barely moved into its new premises at 7 Harper Street, Abbotsford when Australian government restrictions on trading and social distancing because of the coronavirus pandemic forced its next sale to be carried out entirely online, by telephone or absentee bidding.
This, despite the new premises being set up with a second gallery specifically purposed for displaying art and jewellery at each forthcoming auction.
