Australia's leading artists at affordable auction prices

Affordable paintings by many of Australia’s leading artists are the highlights of Leonard Joel’s forthcoming fine art auction from 6.30pm Tuesday March 21 at 333 Malvern Road, South Yarra.

Included among the well-known names are Robert Dickerson, David Boyd, James Gleeson, Peter Booth, Charles Blackman, John Coburn, Hugh Sawrey, Pro Hart, D’Arcy Doyle and Clarice Beckett.

Works include Beckett’s Yacht at Sunset and Sherbrook, Doyle’s A Drive in the Countryside, Hart’s River Estuary and Sawrey’s The Blue at Criterion.

Other paintings of note are Blackman’s White Flower in Cup, Dickerson’s Just a Moment, Boyd’s Children and Cockatoo, Coburn’s Egyptian Journey and Booth’s Untitled pastel on paper.

One of the more expensive auction works is Brett Whiteley’s The Vatican Seen Past the River Tiber, Rome, Italy c1959 with a catalogue estimate of $25,000-$30,000.
