Gibson’s Auctions Spring Collection sale from 11am Sunday September 16 at 885-889 High Street, Armadale is designed to put a “spring” in the step of auction goers, according to founder Jennifer Gibson.

“These are irresistible pieces designed to freshen up the home for Spring,” she says. “They are all affordable items and a nice mix of traditional and 20th century pieces.”

A good start for buyers looking to brighten up their homes is the 19th century portrait of a winged figure in a classical landscape from the Spanish Colonial School – featured on the catalogue cover.

Another is the 1920s art nouveau copper umbrella stand in the form a parasol, while a 1950s multi-coloured glass pear drop chandelier is a real eye catcher.

A Turkish prayer rug with Madder red mihrab is a strong feature along with an unusual 1930s French etched and cut glass two-tone fan-shaped wall mirror.

Australian artist Bill Coleman (1922-1993) is represented by his work Car parked by a tree.

Other attractions include a 1920s French pair of floral and white painted bedside tables and a pair of 1880s German Rhenish salt glazed lion form wall sconces.
